Chris Innes appointed Livingston captain

DEFENDER Chris Innes has been appointed Livingston FC's new club captain, following the departure of James McPake to Coventry City earlier this week.

Innes, 32, arrived at the club in the summer on a free transfer following his early release from Gretna. Chris was formerly captain for the Black and Whites, and was the manager's choice to lead his team out on the park.

Speaking of the appointment, Livi manager Paul Hegarty commented: "I spoke to Chris and a few other senior players at the club this week and, as a result, he has been chosen to be our new captain.

"He has been a captain before at Gretna and he is very experienced. He is a great speaker, both on and off the park, and he was the natural choice."

Innes skippered Livi in their 4-2 win over Ross County on Saturday past, and will take up the role of captain immediately.
