Livingston Football Club are delighted to confirm Iain Russell as the club’s second close season signing after he signed a two-year contract today.
An experienced striker, Iain has scored regularly throughout his senior football career and will provide manager Gary Bollan with additional firepower during the forthcoming Irn Bru Second Division campaign.
The 27-year old joins the club from Greenock Morton, where he has spent the three seasons. Prior to his move to Cappielow, Iain enjoyed successful spells with Dumbarton and Brechin City.
He spent much of the 2009-10 season on loan at Alloa and Stirling Albion, and was instrumental in the Binos’ late charge to win the Second Division championship scoring seven times in ten appearances.
Stirling boss Allan Moore moved to Morton last month and was understood to be keen to retain Iain’s services for the new season, but he has opted instead for a move to the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium.
“Iain had a number of attractive offers so we’re delighted that he has chosen to continue his career here at Livingston,” said chief executive Ged Nixon.
“His signing will bolster Gary’s attacking options and give us added competition for places which can only be a good thing as we look to build on last season’s championship success.”
Iain will join the Livingston squad when pre-season training gets underway towards the end of this month, as will goalkeeper Tony Bullock, the club’s other new recruit to date.
