Our reserves were defeated for a second successive Reserve League game on Tuesday evening, going down 2-0 to Airdrie United.
Airdrie put out a side containing several experienced players and although they matched their opponents throughout the ninety minutes our young side couldn't find the net.
Both the visitors goals came from seasoned pros, with Paul Di Giacomo beating Darren Jamieson with a low drive to open the scoring after thirteen minutes.
David Lilley added the second just before half time when he headed into an unguarded net after Jamieson failed to collect a cross.
The game had a number of positives for us, not least the long awaited return to action of striker David Luongo who replaced Andy Russell after 55 minutes.
There was a familiar face in midfield, with Burton O'Brien, a hero of our 2004 Cup winning team turning out as a trialist.
The reserves have two matches next week; on Monday afternoon they face Morton at Cappielow in a league game (kick off 2pm), followed by a friendly against Gala Rovers at Netherdale on Thursday evening, kick off 7.30pm.
Livingston: Jamieson, R Gray (Wilson 82), Booth, Fordyce, McDonald, Beaumont, Easton, Trialist, A Russell (Luongo 55), Downie, L Gray (Mullen 64). Sub not used: Donaldson
