Airdrie 1 - 3 Livingston
(HT 1 - 1)
Di Giacomo (20)
McNulty (25)
Fox (63)

Russell (87 pen)

LIVINGSTON made it five matches unbeaten at New Broomfield on Friday night, with goals from Marc McNulty, Liam Fox and Iain Russell enough to secure the three points.

The win follows successes against Dumbarton and Hamilton, along with draws with Cowdenbeath and Morton – and consolidates the Lions’ place in the top half of the table.

However, Airdrie took the lead early on in the game when Boyle’s shot from just outside the box was deflected onto the post and Di Giacomo followed up to finish from six yards.

The home side were only ahead for six minutes, however. A Tony Andreu corner was headed down By Craig Barr and after that was blocked, McNulty turned the ball home from four yards.

Livi could have made more of the opportunities they created in the first half.

Keaghan Jacobs jinxed past three defenders but his shot from edge of the box lacked power and was held by Arthur.

Then McNulty burst free down the right and cut back to Mullen who skewed his shot wide of the target.

Just before the break an Andreu corner was played low into McNulty and his shot through a crowded six yard box caught Arthur by surprise – but Russell couldn’t hook the rebound home.

Livi continued their domination after half time. A McNulty flick teed up Andreu on the edge of the box but his half volley went wide.

Airdrie countered with Di Giacomo, but he couldn’t direct a whipped cross into the net.

At the other end, Andreu fizzed a shot from 20 yards that clipped the outside of the post on its way past before Livi finally took the lead.

Liam Fox curled a beauty of a free kick from 20 yards to put the Lions in front, and then had another chance but sent a second set piece from an almost identical location over the bar.

The win was sealed with three minutes left on the clock when Russell was hacked down by Chris O’Neill in the box, and the striker himself stepped up to send Arthur the wrong way.
