Livingston's Development Squad got their League campaign off to a 5 Star start last night as they dissected Forfar in clinical fashion.
This fixture proved an ideal opportunity to blood some fringe players and recouperating first team squad members short of much need game time.
The match started fairly evenly with both teams trading early chances. But Livingston drew first blood through a Myles Hippolyte set piece. Shortly after Paul Grant broke upfield on a counter attack and set-up Rob Ogelby whose first attempt was blocked by the Loons' keeper, but the rebound saw him sythed down in the box for a penalty.
Forfar then found themselves a man down for the challenge and Jack Beaumont put the Lions 2 up from the spot kick to end the half's scoring.
After the breal Livi kept the tempo high and made the pitch as big as possible, making sure they chased the ball as well as pressing all over the field to win the ball back as quickly as possible. The hosts kept working hard but Livi continued to work away and exploited the numerical advantage to create more chances.
And this continuous pressure paid off as Beaumont firstly grabbed his second from a free kick before securing the match ball with a superb shot from distance to put Livi 4-0 ahead.
Ross King then completed the evening's scoring with a fine header following a great attacking move and assist from Gary Dolan.
Development coach Neil Hastings was particularly satisfied with his side's performance. "This was a good exercise for all players envolved and a great opportunity for the younger lads in the group to play alongside first team players and learn how to apply themselves properly."
