Innes: 'Basic errors cost us'

Livingston defender Chris Innes believes that it was two basic mistakes that led to the Lions' 2-1 defeat at Partick Thistle yesterday - and took the blame for Liam Buchanan's opener.

"It was another disappointing result and it was mistakes that cost us", said Chris, "There wasn't much in the game except those two errors, one of which I made myself at the corner which gave them their first. I let the boy get in ahead of me and I thought it would get dealt with, but he's reacted quickest. I hold my hands up for it.

"We came back into it and Dave Mackay took his penalty well, but then we were caught again for their second letting the boy run off us. It's basic errors we are making and we need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible."

Livi's recent run of one win in seven league matches is a sharp contrast to their early season form which saw them top the league having won eight games out of ten. Innes though also feels that there is another deciding factor which has contributed to the poor run.

"I just think to be fair we weren't making mistakes earlier in the season. I don't think there's any great difference in our play and there isn't that great a difference in our squad. We still have a very limited squad but that core of players were there when we were winning.

"I feel it comes down to luck more than anything. I know it's an old adage in football but when you're winning you tend to get a bit more luck.

"We could have at least picked up a point against Partick. We had a few chances but we just couldn't convert them. We simply have to get back to basics and start winning games."
