Murphy joins Livi coaching ranks

AMERICAN coach John Murphy has joined Livingston Football Club, taking up the role of goalkeeping coach vacated by Massimo Piloni two months ago.

Murphy arrives at the club having recently left MLS club Colorado Rapids, where he was the club's director of player development, having previously held the position of assistant coach.

In addition to his four seasons with the Rapids, Murphy also spent time working as assistant coach with Colombus Crew and with Steve Nicol at New England Revolution, in a career which spanned nine years working in America's top league.

Murphy is no stranger to Scottish football though, having spent time in the country acquiring his UEFA Pro Badge and UEFA 'A' Advanced License with the Scottish Football Association. In addition, the highly qualified coach holds a US Soccer 'A' License and an 'A' goalkeeper coaching license from the English FA.

Many of you will have spotted John in the dugout in Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Partick Thistle. Check back later this week for a full first interview with the new man charged with looking after the club's four full-time goalkeepers.
