Transfer window round-up

THE winter international transfer window finally slammed shut at 5pm on Monday 2 February, with a number of changes taking place throughout the month at Almondvale Stadium.

The most high profile departure was that of defender James McPake, who was allowed to move to English Championship side Coventry City early, having signed a pre-contract agreement with the Sky Blues which was due to commence in the summer.

Also heading for the exit at the 'Vale were loan duo Calum Elliot and Rocco Quinn. Despite attempts to sign them permanently from their respective parent clubs Hearts and Celtic, Calum remains at Hearts and Rocco has since signed for SPL side Hamilton Academical.

Two further changes were made to manager Paul Hegarty's pool of players. Left back Phil Cave was allowed to move to his former club, Blue Square North side Gateshead United, on loan for the rest of the season. Colombian midfielder Alejandro Caiaffa was also allowed to move on, although at present he is still training with the club, despite no longer being registered as a Livingston player.

Three new additions were made to the squad during the window, with the arrival of striker David Winters and defender Danny Griffin from Ross County, and forward Armand One from Finnish side TPS Turku.

The trio arrived at Livingston on free transfers, with Winters and Griffin signing until the end of the season. One, formerly of Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers and Cowdenbeath, agreed an 18 month contract.

The one final piece of news regards French midfielder Milan Thomas, who originally signed on a one-month deal in December from Cannes. Milan will now be staying at the club until the end of the season, and will be hoping to break into Paul Hegarty's side, having not made an appearance as of yet under the new boss.

Hegarty had spoken after the Ross County match at the weekend of possibly bringing in one further player, but revealed to the official website this afternoon that his attempts had been unsuccessful.

"I tried to bring one player in just before the window closed," said Hegarty, "but he decided to go to a club in a different division.

"But the Chairman and Chief Executive gave me a free reign to bring players in during this window, and I am pleased to have signed David Winters, Danny Griffin and Armand One."
