Fox extends contract

Livingston have been given a massive boost with the news that captain Liam Fox has agreed terms on a new two-year contract.

Fox, who has skippered the Lions to back-to-back championship wins over the last two seasons, put pen to paper on the new deal today and will remain at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium until the summer of 2013.

"I'm delighted to get sorted with a new contract because the last couple of years with the club have been great and I was always looking to stay," said Fox, who joined Livi from Inverness Caley Thistle in 2006.

"Getting back into the First Division is something that all the players worked hard to achieve last season and, to be honest, the new season can't come quick enough for me now."

Work is ongoing at Livi to hold together as much of the Second Division championship team together as possible, although a number of players have been told that their futures lies elsewhere.

Chief executive Ged Nixon was pleased, therefore, that the captain and a mainstay of a successful midfield has committed his future to the club.

"We're delighted that Liam is staying on as we head up into the First Division after the summer," said Nixon.

"We are building what we believe is an exciting young team but it's important to have experienced players with the right attitude to compliment that.

"Liam certainly fits the bill as far as that's concerned; he has been a big influence in our championship teams and has shown great commitment and loyalty to the club since the new board took over two years ago."

Fox joins Paul Watson (2 years), Jason Talbot (2 years) and Bobby Barr (one year) in signing new contracts in recent weeks with discussions with other players continuing.
