A strong Livingston squad defeated Lowland League side Gala Fairydean Rovers at Netherdale this evening, putting in a dominant performance.
With Keaghan Jacobs, Burton O'Brien and Stefan Scougall all in our starting line-up we enjoyed the bulk of possession from the word go, but it took sixteen minutes for a goal to arrive when Callum Fordyce knocked the ball in from close range after the home side failed to clear a corner.
Our lead was doubled ten minutes later when Kyle Lander struck with an angled volley from inside the penalty area.
O'Brien and Scougall were replaced by youngsters Scott Wilson and Sean Murphy at the interval, with a number of other subs punctuating the second half.
The side that ended the game was considerably younger than the one that started it, but we managed to notch two further goals, Mullen getting a reward for an industrious performance in 82 minutes before Jack Downie struck at the death to put a more realistic reflection on the scoreline.
In addition to the four goals, Denholm, Scougall and Burchill all hit the woodwork.
Rovers' defended doggedly throughout but in an attacking sense were restricted to one first half shot which was parried well by Walker and a late shot that flew narrowly over.
