U19's come through tough Alloa test

Livingston's under 19's team saw off their nearest challengers Alloa Athletic last Sunday to open up a three point gap at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Despite falling a goal behind to their hosts, an Andrew Halliday penalty levelled the scores before Gordon Smith added a double to seal a 3-1 victory for Graeme Robertson and Paul Connolly's side.

Speaking of the match, Robertson commented: "Both myself and Paul were delighted at the boys' fighting qualities after going a goal behind. They showed a real determination to win.

"Alloa gave us a real test and it was beneficial for our players as in some of their matches this season they haven't had to play at a high tempo. So the Alloa match helped in that respect."

The U19's are due to face Dumbarton this Sunday on the main pitch here at Almondvale Stadium with a 1pm kick-off, but this may be subject to change. If you intend to go along to cheer on the boys, please check with reception at the club before heading down.

In other U19's news, their tough SFA Youth Cup fixture with Motherwell has been set for Sunday 7 December at Fir Park, Motherwell with a 1pm kick off. Motherwell are currently fifth in the SPL under 19's table, ahead of Celtic on goal difference and eight points behind top place Hibernian.

Derek McWilliams U17's side on the other hand went down to their third consecutive defeat in the league - and their third by a single goal - with a 2-1 loss away to Clyde last Sunday.

The U17's will be looking to turn around their fortunes when they face Dunfermline at home on the Fieldturf this Sunday. Kick-off is at 11am.
