Now one of the current Livingston side's longest serving players, midfielder Liam Fox has seen three different management regimes and a handover in club ownership, yet has remained a regular in the side.
This year, he sees his role under Landi as incomparable to the one he was given by Mark Proctor, or John Robertson before him.
"I'm doing a very different job," says Liam, "I used to be the one who had to get in the box, get involved in things. Now I've got Murray beside me, it's about nicking balls, winning tackles and doing the sort of ugly things."
Not that he is unhappy in his new role. "I'm doing the sort of Lee Makel role, though I'd never class myself in the same category as Lee. I'm not interested in hugging the limelight. As long as the manager's happy and team's doing well, that's the main thing."
Sadly, the team's recent form has suggested anything but, with one win in seven, continuing at Firhill last Saturday. But Fox is focussing solely on how to improve.
"We just have to stick together. I don't think, to be fair, we created much on Saturday, but we need to keep working hard to hopefully turn it around.
" We just need to work even harder to get out of this poor form we're in. You never like losing games, especially when you know you're not on a good run.
"The team's just lacking a bit of confidence. With the league being so tight, mistakes happen. We maybe got away with the odd mistake earlier in the season, and aren't now."
St Johnstone and their early season form, as Fox agrees, should indeed be a reminder of the uncertainty and changeable nature of Division One: "There's a long way to go, we just need to not panic, and stay in the mix."
But it's the Scottish Cup this weekend, and a visit once again this season to Ochilview to play East Stirling, that looms on the horizon. The Lions will be hoping to avoid repeat of the 120 minute frenzy in August which resulted in a last gasp 2-1 victory.
Fox says the team is "looking forward to the game, it's a wee change from the league," but recognises that "if the attitude's not right, we'll be in for a shock." |
