THE PRESS were full of praise for Thistle this weekend after a lacklustre performance from the Lions at Firhill.
Daily Record journalist John Traynor didn't believe Livingston deserved their penalty and described the incident as: "Calum Elliot going down like a wounded soldier inside the box when a Thistle defender appeared to breathe too heavily on him. However, ref Chris Boyle bought his dramatics and pointed to the spot."
Alan McMillan of the Sunday Mail described the penalty as "dubious" and highlighted that "the Livi marking didn't look too clever and their defence was all over the place". He also quoted manager Roberto Landi as saying "We were missing four or five injured players and that's too much to handle with a small squad."
The Scotsman focused on the performance of Thistle and particularly Donnelly. "Ex-Celt Simon Donnelly showed he is still a class act, turning in a five-star display and creating both goals which saw the Jags record a third successive home win and keep in touch with the promotion hopefuls." |
