Aberdeen match preview
This weekend, we are once again back in league action and back on the road as we face Aberdeen at Pittodrie Stadium. Both teams are coming into this game from different perspectives. We are coming off a 1-1 draw, and the visitors are coming from a 1-0 cup win. We look to take a positive performance from our midweek league game and turn it into 3 points this weekend.
Last time out, we drew 1-1 with St Mirren. After last weekend’s defeat on penalties against the same opponent, we hoped to get some revenge. We started fast, with many chances created. A Muirhead goal in the 56th minute from a great cross from Brenet gave us the lead. From then on, we seem to be in control and grab our first 3 points of 2026. However, an 89th-minute equaliser from Gogic seemed very controversial, as he was pulling Brenet, and the goal was cleared by VAR. So, another 2 points dropped when we should have sealed all 3, we move on as we go to a tough away game to bounce back. We hope to get more points on the board and grab a positive result against a tricky but struggling opposition.
Aberdeen is coming off a 1-0 Scottish Cup win against Championship side Raith Rovers. Aberdeen scored early on in the 9th minute by Milne, which was enough to see out the game as chances came for both sides. However, they managed to hold on to see them into the next round of the cup. Our hosts have lost 4 of their last 5 league games, they have only scored 2 in their last 5 matches, and have conceded 7. They will want to overturn their poor run of form and hopefully to grab all 3 points at home.
The key players for this match will be Mo Susoho who was given the Sponsors POTM. An important role within that midfield position will be crucial to help break down Aberdeen’s attack and keep hold of possession for us. Another key player for this match will be Robbie Muirhead who has recently started back-to-back matches for the first time in a while and managed to grab a goal on Tuesday night. He’ll be hoping to build on that against tomorrows opponents.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, it’s the hosts who have the upper hand, winning 3, with 2 draws. The last game was a 1-0 loss back in November 2025, despite controlling the majority of the match, it was a late goal which gave Aberdeen all 3 points. Our last win against our opponents was a 2-1 win back in November 2022 at home. So, we will be looking to repeat that over our guests, grab a positive result, with a positive performance and climb up that league table.
