Ayr United match preview
This Saturday, we travel to Ayr United at Somerset Park in a 2nd vs 3rd encounter. Both teams come into this game off the back of wins in the SPFL Trust Trophy. We will be aiming to maintain our strong start to the season and close the gap to the top.
Lat week saw us progress into the Quarter Final of the Trust Trophy after defeating Inverness on penalties. This weekend we return to league action where we have been in solid form with three wins and two draws in our last five league matches. We hope to keep up our unbeaten start to the season against a tough opposition.
Ayr United are coming into this game after a cup win over Peterhead. In their last 5 league matches they have with 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. They have scored 5 goals in their last 5 games so will be looking to continue that goal scoring run.
One key man for us will be Stevie May, with a goal and an assist in last weekend’s game he managed to a spot in the SPFL Team of the Week. Scott Pittman will be another key player for us in this game with another goal last weekend. We will also welcome our new signing, Danny Wilson into the squad. The defender signed a short-term deal during the week and will be hoping to make his debut this weekend.
In the last five meetings between the two sides, Livingston have had the upper hand winning 3 of the 5 games. The last encounter saw a 2-0 win for the lions in the League Cup in 2023. It will be the first time the sides have played each other since then. We have the best defense in the league and are currently 2nd in the most points picked up away from home while Ayr United currently has the best home form of any team in the league.
