Celtic match preview
This weekend we return to league action as we travel to Glasgow to face Scottish Champions, Celtic.
We are coming off the back of a 2-0 home loss against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup after conceding just before half time then a spectacular goal late on. Now we turn back to Premiership action. We have won 3 out of the last 5 matches and scored 13 goals during that run and kept 2 clean sheets, with sitting 3rd in the league we look to keep that momentum and continue that strong start to the season with a first away win in the league campaign against the champions.
Celtic come off the back of a mixed week after a 4-1 home win against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup which seen them secure their place in the next round. They also had a tough 0-0 draw in their Champions League Play-Off match at home to Kairat on Wednesday. They have scored 8 goals in their last 5 matches and have kept 3 clean sheets during that run too. However, Celtic haven’t lost to us in the last in the last 9 matches.
The key players for this match will be Ryan McGowan, who has become our mainstay at the back for us and will be critical in keeping the back door shut against a very attacking team. Once again, Scott Pittman will be a key player for us in this match, his energy in the middle of the park will be key to breaking up Celtic attacks.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, the hosts have the upper hand by winning 5 of the last 5 matches. The last game was a 3-0 loss back in March 2024. Our last win against the hosts came in September 2021, when we secured a 1-0 win at home. So, we will be looking to stop the drought we are on against the hosts and grab a positive result away from home.
