Celtic match preview
This midweek, we are on the road again as we face Celtic at Celtic Park. Both teams are coming into this game from different perspectives We are coming off a 2-1 defeat, and the hosts are coming from a 2-1cup win. We look to overcome the result from last midweek and hopefully turn it into 3 points this Wednesday.
We are coming off a narrow 2-1 loss against Falkirk. We conceded after just 6 minutes when Wilson’s right-footed shot found the back of the net. In the 25th minute, the visitors doubled their lead through Marsh’s close-range shot. However, just a couple of minutes into the second half McLennan pulled one back, seeing his shot from the center of the box pass the keeper. Despite the strong start to the second half, we couldn’t capitalise on this, and the visitors left with all 3 points.
Celtic is coming off a 2-1 cup win against Dundee after coming through extra time. The first goal didn’t come until the 49th minute after Hamilton shocked the depleted stadium and gave Dundee a surprise lead. It looked like Celtic were on for a shock exit, however, Adamu with the last kick of the game, equalised, taking the game to extra time.
Tounekti scored in the 92nd minute of extra time and that was enough to see them through to the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup. Our hosts have won 3 in their last 5 games, they have scored 12 in their last 5 matches and have conceded 7. They will want to continue their run to keep them in the title race by grabbing all 3 points.
The key players for this match will be Robbie Muirhead, who is the POTM. With his work rate and creativity, he will be important to get in behind a shaky backline. Another key player for this match will be Brooklyn Kabongolo, who played in the backline against Falkirk and he will be important to keeping the back door shut at a tough away game.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, it’s the hosts who have the upper hand, winning 5 of the 5 last matches. The last game was a 4-2 defeat back in December 2025. Our last win against our opponents was a 1-0 win back in September 2021 at home. So, we will be looking to repeat that over our guests, grab a positive result, with a positive performance and climb up that league table.
