Change to Under 16 ticket purchasing
Regrettably, following on from further disappointing disturbances instigated from a younger, minority element of the fanbase, the club has been left with no choice but to make a change to the purchasing of under 16 tickets at the Home of the Set Fare Arena.
Effective immediately, under 16 tickets can now only be purchased with a paying adult or concession – both online and in person from reception/ticket office. An adult or concession can purchase a maximum of 2 x under 16’s tickets in one transaction.
It’s really not something we as a club wanted to do as we realise there will very likely be some younger fans who do attend and can behave properly, but the repeated behaviour of others despite our best efforts to work with them has forced our hand on this. Increased stewarding numbers or police presence in and around the ground all comes at an additional cost to the club, not to mention the time then spent investigating and watching back CCTV footage to identify those involved, which could really be spent much more effectively. Whilst we thank the stewards and police for their quick response and actions on Tuesday, it’s incredibly sad that we’re having to call upon that course of action because of the behaviour of these young people within the home end.
We want the Home of the Set Fare Arena to be somewhere people can come and, at a very, bare minimum, feel safe in doing so. The feedback from Tuesday night inparticular shows that not to be the case for several other supporters and we absolutely won’t tolerate that.
Whilst still absolutely welcoming and encouraging under 16’s to attend the game, as it stands, that will only be possible with an adult attending too.
We’ll revisit this come the turn of the year but, sadly, for the remainder of our home games for 2024, this is the step we’ll be taking.
