Club Statement
We’re delighted to announce that, after a long and difficult period through the courts, the club has reached an agreement with all parties involved in respect of the well documented litigation that has been ongoing for a number of recent years, achieving a favourable outcome for Livingston FC.
This has been a huge burden on not just the individuals working in the building day-to-day, but the entire football club as a whole, but this outcome now allows us to move forward with a clear ownership model, with Baycup Ltd remaining the majority shareholder in Livingston FC, and we can now start to look at ways to bring much needed investment into the football club.
With a good structure in place and a clear path ahead, we can now turn our attention towards attracting the needed investment to bolster the clubs resources to improve at all levels, both on and off the field.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our supporters, fans and sponsors for their unrelenting patience and confidence. Without their continuous support, the process would have been even more challenging. We all share the same ambition of taking our club to even greater things and we know that, with your backing, this will be possible.
Chairman John Ward said: “I am personally delighted that we have been able to reach this agreement. I have been involved with the club since 2009 as a sponsor and since 2016 as a member of the operations committee and the board and this is the first time the club has been able to move forward and seek investment without being encumbered with historical baggage that’s has really strangled the club and any opportunity to grow.
“The past 4 years have been painful as the club has been unable to take advantage of genuine interest in investing in the club because of these decrees and claims that have now ceased at considerable cost to all involved. This has cost the club time, money and opportunity.
“I look forward to doing what’s best for Livingston FC moving forward which has always been my intention and motivation while acting as the CEO and now Chairman.”
Chief Executive Officer Dave Black: “Whilst pleased that the club has been able to reach a positive outcome on this, my overwhelming feeling on the news is just that of relief.
“I joined the club almost 5 years ago and there’s been historic issues of this nature hanging over the club the entire time.
“The last 18 months, we’ve not been able to sell any new shares and not been able to add to the board of directors meaning the day-to-day workload has been ever increasing, alongside the additional work litigation brought, and this has become more and more difficult with passing months.
“This now gives us a chance to implement a clear structure and plan properly for how we now move forward and bring in the investment the club desperately needs to remain competitive, but more importantly, sustainable.
“We’re under no illusions that the even harder work starts now, but with everyone now pulling in the same direction, we have a chance, for the first time in a long time, to look forward optimistically.”
John McIlvogue, Baycup Limited: “I am delighted that we finally have resolution on the many legal issues which have stopped Livingston Football Club moving forward. I got involved in LFC with the best intentions and the aim of bringing much needed investment into the club and, for over a year, I have been unable to do anything due to the much publicised court actions.
“I for one hope we can now move forward & attract additional investors and put Livingston FC in a solid financial position moving forward.”
The club would like to acknowledge the huge part Blackwater Law played in helping us to navigate through a very difficult period.
