Gary Maley moves on.
We can confirm that goalkeeper coach Gary Maley is to leave the club.
“Stretch” joined us in 2016 following our relegation to League 1 and was number 2 that season behind Liam Kelly as we sealed an immediate return to the Championship.
The 41-year old went on to make 12 appearances for the Lions in total, keeping 6 clean sheets – including a blank in a memorable Premiership debut, coming off the bench at 1-0 down at home to Dundee and making a terrific save as we went on to seal a 2-1 victory in what would be Gary’s final career appearance.
After retiring from the playing squad after that Dundee game, Gary took on the role of first-team goalkeeper coach in June 2022 and has spent the last two seasons in that position, as well as becoming our Academy Head of Goalkeeping too.
After 8 seasons here, Gary moves on to explore other opportunities and leaves with the very best wishes of all at Livingston FC.
First-team manager David Martindale said: “Stretch came to the club to help us out after our relegation to League 1. Ever since then he, has played a very important role both on and off the park and will leave a big void to fill but ultimately, has been a victim of our relegation.
“I owe Stretch a huge thank you and wish him nothing but success and hopefully he can continue his career in professional football as he has a lot to give at this level. He leaves us having played an important role with the club over the last 8 years.”
Good luck, Stretch!
