Hearts match preview
This weekend, we are back after the international break as we face the league leaders Hearts at the Home of the Set Arena. Both teams are coming into this game from different perspectives. We are coming off a 2-0 loss, and the visitors are coming off a 1-0 win. We look to overcome those previous results and hopefully turn them into 3 points this weekend.
We are coming off a 2-0 loss against Kilmarnock. The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute through a Watkins cross which was put away by Hugill. Despite being 1 -0 down, we managed to create some chances, but we failed to take any of them, then Killie got their second through Curtis following a fast break. The sucker punch came in the 87th minute as Kabongolo was sent off, leaving the rest of little time remaining with 10 men. Despite having more possession, we left Ayrshire empty-handed
Hearts is coming off a 1-0 home win against Dundee. The hosts scored from a free-kick with a decent delivery from Leonard, McEntee was there to head it in, in the 77th minute. The visitors did have some chances, but Hearts’ stopper was there to cancel them out. So, the league leaders got all 3 points and are currently sitting only 3 points ahead of 2nd. Our visitors have won 3 in their last 5 games, they have scored only 5 in their last 5 matches and have conceded 5. Hearts will be looking to stay at the top of the table.
The key players for this match will be Mo Sylla, who is up for the POTM award after showing his dominance in the middle of the park. He will be important in stopping Hearts’ attacks, keeping possession and creating possible opportunities for us especially against a well-organised team. Another key player for this match will be Robbie Muirhead who has been important in creating chances for us. His attacking creativity will be crucial to getting into key goal scoring areas.
A key player for Hearts will be Claudio Bragra who has scored 12 goals so far this season. His energy and quality in forward areas will be important in breaking down the Livingston defense. Hearts will also have back their captain Lawrence Shankland and midfielder Cammy Devlin after both were out through injury.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, it’s the hosts who have the upper hand, winning 5 of the 5 matches. The last game was a narrow 1-0 loss back in January 2026. Our last win against our opponents was a 1-0 win back in September 2022 at home.
