Hibernian match preview
This weekend we turn our focus from league action to the Premier Sports Cup, as we welcome fellow Premiership side Hibernian to the Home of the Set Arena.
We are coming off a strong 3-1 home win over Falkirk, which saw us spend an evening top of the league. We have won 3 out of the last 5 matches. We have scored 13 goals during that run and kept 2 clean sheets, with the positive start to the season we have made, we will be looking to get into the next round of the cup.
Hibernian come into this game after progressing in Europe on Thursday night. Despite losing 3-2 on the night to Partizan, they managed to get a goal in extra time which seen them go through 4-3 on aggregate. Domestically, their last results saw then draw 2-2 at home to Kilmarnock and they currently sit on level points with us in the league.
One key player for this match will be Lewis Smith, who scored a cracker last weekend. His pace and attacking presence will help get in behind that Hibernian backline. Another key player for this match will be Scott Pittman, who made the SPFL Team of the Week for his performance against Falkirk last weekend. Scoring for the second week in a row, he has been pivotal for our strong start to the season and will be for the match against Hibs.
In the last 5 matches between both sides, the visitors have the upper hand by winning 3 of the last 5 matches, with us drawing only 1 and winning 1. The last game was a 1-1 draw back in May 2024. So, we will be looking continue the momentum we are on, after the positive start and get into the hat for the next round of the Premier Sports Cup.
