Kilmarnock 1-0 Livingston
A cruelly deflected own goal by Mo Sylla was the difference between the sides in a game the Lions did not deserve to lose.
Kilmarnock took control of Premier Sports Cup Group H with a narrow victory over fellow Scottish Premiership side Livingston at Rugby Park.
Livingston had a golden chance to go in front when Stevie May burst through on goal, but the veteran forward was denied by home goalkeeper Max Stryjek.
Instead, it was the hosts who went in front on 31 minutes when a misjudged punch from Livingston goalkeeper Jerome Prior ricocheted off teammate Mo Sylla into the back of the net.
Livingston had the better of possession and the vast majority of the chances after they went behind, but were unable to beat Stryjek on a frustrating evening.
David Martindale’s side ran out of steam in the closing stages and Kilmarnock missed late opportunities to double their lead, as Marley Watkins’ shot was saved by Prior and Bruce Anderson headed wide.
Kilmarnock top the group with maximum points from their two matches, while Livi have three points from their two outings.
Stuart Kettlewell’s side host Kelty Hearts on Tuesday, while Livingston are next in action on Saturday against Brora Rangers.
