Kilmarnock match preview

This weekend, we are back on the road again as we face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Both teams are coming into this game from different perspectives. We are coming off a 0-0 draw, and the hosts are coming off a 1-0 win. We look to overcome those 4 draws in a row and hopefully turn them into 3 points this weekend.
We are coming off a solid 0-0 draw against Hibernian. The game was dominated by the hosts, who created a couple of early chances, we managed to create a couple of our own too; however, both teams failed to capitalise. The second half started dominantly for the hosts once again; it looked like we would earn a hard-fought point, but a penalty was given in the 89th minute. Thankfully it was overturned by VAR and we left Edinburgh with a point after a great defensive display and getting our first clean sheet since September 2025.
Kilmarnock is coming off a 1-0 win against the league leaders Hearts. The visitors started out well creating a few chances to try and get them the early lead, but it was the hosts that took their early chance. In the 17th minute, Schjonning-Larsen gave the second bottom side the lead. The league leaders couldn’t take any of their many chances and the Ayrshire side took all 3 points from the top side. Our hosts have won 2 in their last 5 games, they have scored 9 in their last 5 matches, and have conceded 12.
The key players for this match will be Jerome Prior, who earned his first clean sheet of the year and he has been putting in strong performances of late to help contribute to the recent draws. Against a confident team, he will be important to keep that back door shut and turn those draws into wins. Another key player for this match will be Mohamed Sylla who put in an excellent shift last time out in that central position stopping attacks and retrieving the ball to give us a chance at the other end.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, it’s the hosts who have the upper hand, winning 2 of the 5 matches, with 3 draws. The last game was a 1-1 draw back in January 2026. Our last win against our opponents was a 3-2 win back in February 2023.
