Kilmarnock WFC 5-0 Livingston WFC
Livingston suffered their second league defeat in a row as their trip to East Ayrshire ended with defeat to Kilmarnock.
Head coach Craig Joyce was forced through injuries to make multiple changes to the squad as a new-look back four started in front of Schenai Gamrot making her first appearance of the season. Gamrot showed no signs of rust, however, rushing from her line to deny Kilmarnock’s Stout the first big chance after an end-to-end start to the game.
Kilmarnock would lead the charge for an opener in the first half, and they got their goal from a set piece just after half an hour with Stout heading past Gamrot from a corner.
Livingston threatened to equalise just before the end of the half through Justine Strain, but the striker was unable to get her shot away in the box after being played through by Walkingshaw. Schenai Gamrot would be called into action right before the half-time whistle, rising to meet a long range effort destined for the top left corner to keep the deficit at one going into the break.
Kilmarnock would waste no time getting the second half underway, Burns driving at McGarvey into the box before producing a smart finish to beat Gamrot at her near post to double the lead.
Livingston would switch things up from the bench but substitute Emily Moran was unlucky to concede a penalty for a high-footed challenge on Gray minutes after coming on. Burns would score from the spot to put the hosts three ahead just before the hour.
Kilmarnock would add another to their tally within minutes as Livi struggled to deal with crosses into the penalty area, McGlashan meeting Martin’s cross with a headed finish for the hosts’ fourth. Martin would be the provider for Kilmarnock’s fifth, picking out the near post with a cross that was turned in by Canavan with fifteen minutes to go.
Livingston would seek to leave their mark on the game in the last ten minutes, with substitutes Daly and Henderson very nearly combining for a consolation goal before the latter was denied by Currie.
The Lionesses look to Partick Thistle next week.
