Loan Report
All six of our loan players were in action this afternoon with mixed fortunes across the board.
Harrison Clark & Joel Nouble
It was joy and despair for Harrison and Joel this afternoon as Arbroath drew 2-2 away to Ayr United. Joel bagged his first goal for the Red Lichties, firing them ahead after 10 minutes before turning provider for former-Lion Michael McKenna on the 28th minute as Arbroath doubled their lead. A missed penalty to go 3-0 up would prove costly though as Ayr reduced the lead on the 70th minute before equalising in the latter stages.
Josh Mullin
There was a Hamilton debut for Josh Mullin following his move to Accies yesterday. The wide man came on for Lewis Smith on the hour mark with Hamilton trailing 1-0 to Greenock Morton but he couldn’t help Brian Rice’s men grab the goal they needed meaning all three points went back to Cappielow. Former Lions Alan Lithgow, Kyle Jacobs and Cammy Blues all featured for the ‘Ton, with the latter being sent off late on.
Matej Poplatnik
Matej started for John McGlynn’s side as they took on Inverness in the Highlands. The striker was replaced with 66 minutes played and the game level at 0-0 but an 80th minute strike from Inverness striker Roddy MacGregor meant it was a 1-0 win for Billy Dodds’ side.
Carlo Pignatiello
Carlo had the opposite fate of Harrison and Joel at Arbroath as he helped loan side Dumbarton come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. The Sons found themselves 2-0 down 5 minutes into the second half at home to Airdrie however, a red card for Diamonds defender Sam Wardrop gave Dumbarton a route back into the game and after Carlo set-up Ryan McGeever to make it 2-1 with 10 minutes to go, the home side would go on to bag a late equaliser to claim, what had looked like, an unlikely share of the spoils.
Brian Schwake
There was an SPFL debut for Brian Schwake came off the bench just after the hour to replace injured goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow for Edinburgh City. The young goalkeeper would go on to pick up a knock himself, leading to a shirt change due to blood and a heavily bandaged head. Sadly, Brian couldn’t prevent the Citizens from going down 2-0 in Forfar, with the hosts second goal coming in the 7th minute of injury-time.
