LYF shirt auction
The LYF runs a Reminiscence Initiative where they bring local sixth years pupils together with individuals in the community who are suffering from dementia.
The groups meet once a month (one at Livingston FC and one at Armadale Thistle FC) and the participants chat over old footballing stories, recall special games, discuss players and general chat about their lives. They also get a half time refreshment of tea/Bovril and a pie!
They get a number of individuals from the local community come along to the groups but also work alongside some of the local nursing homes, one of which is Peacock Nursing Home in Eliburn.
A number of their residents come along to the groups and for some it is the only outing they get during the month.
On the 14th of November the Nursing Home is holding an event to try and raise some valuable funds for the residents and all monies raised will be spent on outings and new equipment / activity items for the 75 residents.
The event will also see the nursing home auction off a signed Livingston FC strip from the 2002/03 UEFA Cup exploits (see picture below). The main auction of the top will take place on the night but possible telephone bids would be encouraged before the 14th.
Our CIS Cup winning skipper Stuart Lovell has confirmed that the signatures on the replica shirt are 100% genuine.
Anyone interesting in making a bid should contact Margaret Bradford at Peacock Nursing Home on 01506 417464 or email her at peacockactivities@aol.co.uk.
