Next Up – Ross County
After we travelled north on Sunday to take on Aberdeen, it’s the turn of Ross County to travel south as we play host to the Staggies here at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday with a 3pm KO.
County have picked up 8 points from their opening five games with wins against Motherwell & Hamilton, draws against Kilmarnock & St Mirren and defeat at home to newly promoted Dundee United.
It’s not a bad start at all from the Highlanders with those 8 points enough o see them tucked up behind Rangers and Hibernian in 3rd place as things stand.
Both main strikers in Ross Stewart and Billy McKay are off the mark with Stewart netting the winner against Motherwell and McKay the winner against Hamilton. Former Lion Coll Donaldson has also found the net already this season, grabbing the opener against another of his former sides, Dundee United.
He’s not the only ex-Livi man we could come up against with winger Josh Mullin also still plying his trade with Ross County. He’s found game time a little tougher to come by so far this season with 3 of his 4 appearances coming from the bench.
For the Lions, we could see strikers Lars Lokotsch and Anthony Stokes make their debuts after clearance for both players came through this week, with youngster Carlo Pignatiello the only other without a competitive first-team appearance to his name yet.
Ciaron Brown could return from injury whilst long-term absentees Alan Lithgow, Steve Lawson and Keaghan Jacobs are all likely to remain out.
Scott Pittman’s goal on Sunday on his 225th appearance was his 31st for the club, drawing him level with Raffa De Vita. His next will see him go clear as top goal scorer currently at the club.
Our only clash at the Tony Macaroni Arena last season seen a 4-0 win for Livingston with Ricki Lamie opening the scoring before Lyndon Dykes helped himself to a perfect hat-trick – our first-ever in the top flight. The 4-goal win was also the biggest ever victory we’ve recorded over the Staggies.
There are 11 players in the squad at the moment who have yet to find the net for the Lions – could one of those break that duck this weekend?!
