Rangers match preview
This weekend we face Rangers FC at the Home of the Set Arena. Both teams domestically are coming into this game from different perspectives.
We are coming off the back of a 3-2 defeat, and the visitors are coming from a 2-0 win at home. So, we will be looking to bounce back from that last result and grab a result at home against one side of the Old Firm.
We will be looking to put things right after last weekend’s disappointing result away to Dundee, after making an impressive comeback from 2 nil down, a last-minute penalty for the hosts denied us a point. We have not won in the last 5 matches and scored 3 goals during that run and have conceded 10. We will look to bounce back from that devastating loss and climb up that table sitting in 8th. We hope to get back to winning ways after our loss and grab a positive result against a challenging opposition.
Rangers are coming off a 1-0 home loss against Genk in the Europa League, but in their last domestic match they came out 2-0 wiiners against Hibs in the League Cup to progress to the semi-finals. Surprisingly, Rangers have yet to win in the Premiership so far this season, picking up 4 draws and a loss, so they will be looking to get their first win on the board. They have scored 3 goals in their last 5 matches, have kept 1 clean sheet during that run too but also haven’t lost to us in the last in the last 21 matches.
The key players for this match will be Jeremy Bokila, who came on last weekend and showed his confidence by scoring the penalty to make it 2-2 at the time, with his attacking presence, he will be looking to break down the visitors’ back line. Another key player for this match will be Lewis Smith, who has started this season impressively, creating and helping wherever needs be and he will be hoping to keep that up against a top team.
In the last 5 matches between the sides, the visitors have the upper hand by winning 5 of the last 5 matches. The last game was a 3-0 loss back in February 2024. Our last win against Rangers came in September 2018, when we secured a 1-0 win at home. So, we will be looking to get a win over the visitors and get a positive result at home in-front of the fans.
