Season Ticket 2019/20 Donations
We hope this finds you all safe and well and making progress as we emerge from lockdown. This is a slow and difficult process for all of us, and our hearts genuinely go out to all of those whose lives have been blighted by this terrible virus.
Our unequivocal thanks and admiration continue to go to those on the front line who tackle the consequences of the pandemic, minute-by-minute. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to those, too many to mention here, who quite literally put their lives at risk for the greater good of their communities. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Following our announcement on 18th. May that season ticket refunds were available for the portion of the unfinished 2019-20 season, we are pleased to say very few people requested refunds before the deadline and the process closed. We are deeply grateful to those who have chosen not to request a refund. We also fully understand in these difficult times that the refund was much needed by those who requested one, and we hope it goes some way to relieve some financial pressures.
Turning to those who left their refunds in place, we have now been advised that we may be able to recover the VAT element of those “refunds” that were not claimed back. If those season ticket holders who haven’t taken a refund agree, we can create an internal “refund”, and then treat the unclaimed refund as a donation. As we have already paid the VAT, we can claim this back.
What this effectively means if for every £60 we might have been asked to refund, we will be able to claim back £10 in VAT.
Unless we hear from season ticket holders prior to Thursday 11 June we will proceed on the basis we have your deemed consent to treat your unclaimed refund as a donation.
This won’t generate huge amounts of revenue, but every little helps. As we move back to training with a view to starting the 2020-21 season, we are facing huge costs associated with testing for COVID-19, as well as taking extensive precautionary measures to ensure everyone entering and using the stadium is as safe as possible.
Given the current climate, Gary and Davie will welcome every penny we can give them towards their footballing budget for this coming season. Rest assured our main priority will be putting out a team capable of sustaining Premiership football for the fans in the coming seasons.
