Loan Report
Five of our six loan players were in action this weekend, with Josh Mullin the only one not to play with Hamilton not having a game.
Harrison Clark & Joel Nouble
It was a tough, hard luck story for Harrison and Joel as the Red Lichties came so close to a cup upset this afternoon. Both of our loanees started this tie against cup holders St Johnstone today, with Joel firing Arbroath ahead after half an hour. St Johnstone equalised with an hour played, taking the game to extra-time. Tam O’Brien gave the hosts the lead again on 93 with Jamie McCart equalising on the strike of half-time, meaning penalties would be required. Sadly for Joel and Harrison, the Premiership side came out on top, winning 3-2 on penalties.
Matej Poplatnik
A great result for Matej and Raith Rovers as the Starks Park side knocked Aberdeen out of the Premier Sports Cup. Matej came on at the 80 minute mark, replacing Ethan Varian and helping the Rovers see out an impressive 2-1 win and book a place, alongside ourselves, in the quarter-final draw.
Carlo Pignatiello
A disappointing afternoon for Carlo this weekend, playing 90 minutes as the Sons went down 3-0 away to League 1 title hopefuls Queens Park. Goals from Simon Murray, Louis Longridge and Liam Brown helped send the Spiders to the top of the league.
Brian Schwake
A first senior start for Brian on Friday night as Edinburgh City hosted Stenhousemuir – and not only that, the young stopper saved a penalty and kept a clean-sheet as the Citizens picked up their first points of the season in a 1-0 win. Great stuff!
