Contract extension for Cristian Montaño
Livingston FC is delighted to confirm that the club has triggered the one-year extension on Cristian Montaño’s contract which will see the defender remain with the club until at least the end of the 2023/24 season.
The 31-year-old Columbian has made 46 appearances since joining the Lions from Port Vale last summer, scoring 4 times – with all 4 of those goals coming this season.
A head injury this season has seen the left back miss out on adding to those 46 appearances, but he was back in the starting line-up at the weekend – and will now continue to be a big part of the playing squad for the 2023/24 campaign too.
Manager David Martindale said: “I was very keen to get the option year exercised as early as possible with Cristian as he has been one of our strongest performers this season.
“It took Cris a while to adapt to the Scottish Premiership but I am genuinely very happy with what he brings to the team both on and off the park. He has been a fantastic addition to Livingston Football Club and I’m delighted we have got his services for next season at least.
“It brings a bit of continuity to both parties and I think we will see Cris kick on and hopefully help us to have a strong finish to the season.”
