Dunfermline Athletic 0-0 Livingston
Livingston recorded a point on the road after the most nil nil of matches at East End Park against Dunfermline.
Lions manager Davie Martindale made three changes from the side defeated by Partick Thistle a week ago, with Jack Wilkie, Cammy Palmer and Graham Carey coming in for the injured Cristian Montano, Tyrese Sinclair and Bruce Anderson.
Livi had a huge penalty shout on five minutes, with Pittman being fed through into the box. Going down under intense pressure, the referee signalled instead for an offside.
The hosts had a huge chance on 16 minutes. A slack pass by Graham Carey allowed Josh Cooper in whose side foot shot past Jerome Prior hit the far post and bounced away.
It was Livi’s turn up the other end a minute later, as a cross from Jack Wilkie found Pittman at the far post but he got it all wrong and sent the ball high over the bar.
Just after the half hour mark and Dunfermline hit the post again. Robbie Fraser was given the freedom of Fife as he drove at the Livi defence. Cutely flicking the ball towards goal it clipped the base of the post again and out to Rory Macleod who forced a good save from Prior as he turned the shot over for a corner.
Martindale opted to make a change at half time, with Bradly Van Hoeven being replaced by Tyrese Sinclair in a straight swap on the left wing. The Lions got off to a much brighter start working a couple of opportunities within the Dunfermline box however they were unable to drive any efforts on target to trouble Aston Oxborough.
With a further change on the hour mark seeing Bruce Anderson replacing Graham Carey, it meant Robbie Muirhead switched out to the right wing. And with his first touches in his new position, he created Livi’s best chance so far. Nicking the ball of Fraser, he played a quick one-two, cutting inside and unleashing his trademark curling shot, on this occasion missing the target.
Cammy Palmer also came close moments later, a long throw finding the Irishman but his fierce effort was also wide of the scrambling Oxborough’s goal.
The second half was definitely better than the first half for the visitors, but they were still unable to register a shot on target, with Muirhead again looking lively, pouncing on a cut back from Sinclair, his shot ricocheting off the Dunfermline defender and away.
Bruce Anderson had the biggest chance of his Livingston career following a boomed clearance that he managed to run onto. He was one-on-one with Oxborough however never managed to gain composure and was able to be shut down easily by the recovering backline of the Pars.
With minutes left on the clock it was Livi looking for the winner. A long throw by Sinclair into the box was headed down by Muirhead to the feet of Ryan McGowan who smashed his shot into the Dunfermline defender which was then cleared away.
Into stoppage time and Livi broke away. Anderson threaded a delightful pass right to to Muirhead who squared to Sinclair but his shot was blocked once again. Livi continued pushing and Brooklyn Kabongolo recorded Livi’s first shot on goal, a tame attempt from 20 yards that didn’t trouble Oxborough.
WIth the referee blowing for time moments later, it meant Livi’s run of games without a win continued.
