Defeat on the road.

The trend continues in this league fixture with both sides having their share of possession in the first 15 as the teams settle into the game. Both linesmen were kept busy in this period with multiple offsides being called on chances created by both teams, most of them marginal.

The hosts took the lead in the 16th, a breakaway through pass left Reid alone to face down the striker, getting a massive hand to the shot but the ball crept just inside the post.

Just shy of 10 minutes later, the hosts added a second to their tally, a bouncing ball through caused a scramble in the box, with the final touch from Falkirk enough for it to dribble over the line.

The game reverted back to it’s previous state with both teams getting opportunities in the opposing half, the home side however, held the advantage of both goals and momentum as the match drew closer to half time.

A Livingston corner just shy of 40 minutes was cleared to the edge of the box, where it fell to Strain who fired an effort toward the top corner, forcing a great save from the home goalkeeper.

That ended up being the last meaningful act of the first 45, as the hosts took us into the break with a 2 goal advantage.

Half time saw just the one change, as Jaya Gill was subbed off for Rebecca McGarvey.

A double change just before the hour mark for Livi saw Dion Brown and Elise McCormack come on to replace Jorja McGurk and Leah Daly.

Very shortly after, a fourth sub saw Louise Mason make room for Jen Dodds.

A period of dominant possession from the visitors ended with Dodds finding Brown in the box with a great cross, the header from Brown just found the wrong side of the crossbar.

Not long after a great ball was put in behind for Cairney to chase down, but the home keeper was just that bit quicker and nips the ball away in time.

The ball breaks down to the Livingston end where what can only be described as a game of of twister takes place as 6 players of various shirt colours fall over each other in a scramble for the ball before the referee blows for a Livi freekick.

 A ball across the box from Canavan almost finds Brown who stretches for the ball but just not far enough.

The ball made it’s way up the other end, where after a foul on Falkirk, Eve Donald picked up a second yellow to reduce us to 10 for the final period of the game.

The second yellow was the last action from either side as the last 10 played out a game of back and forth possession and attacks, all of which were snuffed out before reaching either goalkeeper.

A disappointing day in Falkirk.
