Gartcairn WFC 1-1 Livingston WFC
Lauren Evan’s fifth goal of the season rescued a point late on for Livingston away at Gartcairn. The forward poked the ball home in the 88th minute to level things up at MTC Park.
The Lionesses were without defensive regulars Jess Murphy and Bryony Ross, although were boosted by the return of captain Natasha Frew. There was also a first start for Chloe Kean who slotted into the backline alongside Frew and Summer Laird.
The first half had very chances, with both teams being competitive but the game lacking any real quality within it. This changed on the half-hour mark as Gartcairn’s Yasmin Boyce fired an excellent strike into the top corner from outside of the box.
Lauren Evans went closest for Livi in the first half, with a header going just wide. Rachel Pirie was on hand in the Livingston goal to prevent the side from going further behind, making an excellent save from a corner kick.
Livi came into the game more in the second half but struggled to create any real chances of note. Set pieces looked to be the away side’s best chance to get back into the game, with it coming to fruition in the 88th minute.
A Mia Mcarthur corner caused havoc in the box, with the ball bouncing around with the home side unable to clear. Lauren Evans managed to get a crucial touch to the ball and direct it into the back of the net, continuing her fine goalscoring form this season.
The game ended all square in a deserved point for both sides in a competitive showing at MTC Park. The Lionesses are back in action next Sunday as they host Rossvale at the Home of the Set Fare Arena.
