Lauren Evans’ fourth goal in four games earned a valuable 2-1 victory away at Gartcairn. Evans’ goal combined with Ashley Elizabeth’s 10th strike of the season as Livi moved one point behind Kilmarnock who currently occupy the SWPL 1 playoff spot.

A depleted Livingston squad travelled to MTC Park looking to make amends for the last meeting as Gartcairn ran out 2-0 winners. Always a competitive fixture, there was little to separate the two committed teams, with few chances created but plenty of competition across the park.

Good defending from Natasha Frew saw her thwart the opposition’s best chances before they could get a shot away whilst Bryony Ross went closest for the Lionesses. The second half saw Shannon Mulligan head off the line following a corner, before the game burst into life with three goals in 10 minutes.

Livingston worked the ball up the park well, with Hannah Davie and Anna Dickov advancing before the latter’s low-driven cross was met at the backpost by Ashley Elizabeth. The striker was able to tap in to open the scoring, with it being her 10th goal of the campaign.

Livi’s lead only lasted 8 minutes, when a corner by Gartcairn was met by Kaela McDonald-Nguah who headed home to level things up.

However, Livingston regained the lead immediately, with Lauren Evans continuing her great run of form. A great pass by Frew put Sharon Hughes-Lee into a dangerous position, with her cross being met tremendously by Evans who nodded in for her 6th goal of the season.

Little quality followed this brief spell, with neither team able to create many more opportunities. A late stramash in the box saw Molly Reeve eventually claim the ball in Gartcairn’s best chance for an equaliser.

The final whistle sees Livingston move to only 1 point behind second-placed Kilmarnock with two games to go. Livingston will look to keep up their good form next weekend as they travel to face Stirling University.
