Kilmarnock WFC 4-0 Livingston WFC
Livingston fell to a 4-0 defeat away from home against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. A brace from Cara Gray combined with goals from Mia Scott and Eilidh Martin to give the home side the three points.
An injury hit Livingston saw several players missing out as Jess Murphy made her 100th appearance for the club. She was accompanied in defence by Chloe Kean and Briony Morgan as Summer Laird and the suspended Lily Park dropped out. Rachel Walkingshaw and Mya Goodman were also replaced by Jen Dodds and Nina Hegarty in the starting XI.
The hosts survived an early scare as goalkeeper Holly Kerrigan came out of her box to block a shot, with it looking like it bounced off her hand in the rebound, but nothing was given.
Kilmarnock really put the pressure early on, though, forcing Schenai Gamrot into action. The Livi keeper made good saves, denying Cara Gray and Lucie Burns on a couple of occasions.
However, Gamrot could only keep Killie out for so long as Gray finally made the break through in the 20th minute. A cross was diverted away by Gamrot, with Gray pouncing upon the opportunity and firing home.
Erin Burns and Briony Morgan both had decent runs down the right, resulting in crosses out into dangerous areas but there were no takers.
Mia Scott doubled the hosts lead, heading home from a corner from close range to give Kilmarnock some breathing room.
A bright start to the second half saw Livi put pressure on the hosts. A dangerous corner by Nina Hegarty was just missed by Natasha Frew, before the defender struck the bar with an excellent strike from outside the box.
Unfortunately, Livi were unable to make the pressure count as Kilmarnock added a third. A great through ball from Burns found Gray who made no mistake, earning herself a deserved second goal of the game.
Gray proved to be a constant nuisance all game and went close to getting a hat trick but headed narrowly wide from close range.
The game was wrapped up with the goal of the game as Eilidh Martin added the fourth. The substitute fired a great strike from range, finding the top corner in spectacular fashion.
A tough game against strong opposition, Livi will be hoping to dust themselves off and prepare for their next game against Rossvale.
