Two first-half goals from Callum Lang and Tony Watt made it 3 defeats on the spin for the Lions as Motherwell ran out 2-0 winners at The Tony Macaroni Arena.

Victory for the Steelmen sees them rise to 7^th whilst we drop to 10^th.

With the wind causing havoc throughout, chances were at a premium but Lang made no mistake in firing Motherwell ahead.

Devante Cole picked up a loose ball in the middle of the park and sent Lang down the left hand side of the 18-yard-box. He dropped the shoulder and cut inside before calmly picking his spot between Max Stryjek’s legs and rolling the ball home.

Nathan McGinley almost doubled the lead shortly after when his attempted cross caught in the wind, almost looping over Stryjek, who done well to palm the ball over the bar before it dropped in.

Cole fired wide for the visitors before Jay Emmanuel-Thomas tried to catch ‘Well goalkeeper Aaron Chapman out with an audacious effort from just inside the half but the ball drifted wide of the post.

With fourth official indicating one additional minute at the end of the first-half, Motherwell doubled their lead. Mark O’Hara fired a free-kick through the wall from the edge of the box and Stryjek could only parry into the path of Watt who tapped home from close range.

The Lions enjoyed more of the ball in the second-half, helped by having the wind behind them, but that possession was rarely turned into chances.

Jon Guthrie seen a header from a corner comfortably saved by Chapman before substitute Scott Tiffoney’s deflected effort curled wide of the target.

The final chance of the game would fall to Tony Watt who broke through on goal from a counter-attack but Stryjek was equal to his low effort and pushed the ball to safety.

Simply put, a bad day at the office for the Lions who head into November looking to get back to winning ways.
