Livingston 1-0 Clyde
It was the hosts who came out on top with a solitary goal from our number 9 Bruce Anderson with a strike which found Jack Leighfields bottom left corner from 25 yards with just 15 minutes to play.
The game started a little scrappy but it was clear that the visitors were trying a similar tactic to which Hamilton Accies provided the week before and were in a low defensive block for much of the match whilst trying to go long towards striker Martin Rennie.
Livingston did cause a lot of issues down the left side with good link up play from Penrice, Stephen Kelly and Parkes which led to a free kick near the corner flag which was delivered towards Devlin but his flicked attempt was easily caught. Stephen Kelly was next to test the Clyde goalkeeper from inside the box but was straight at him and he held easily. The next attempt was a diving header from Kurtis Guthrie as he got on the end of a Jason Holt cross but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Half Time: Livingston 0-0 Clyde
Into the second half and it was more of the same with Livingston dominating a lot of the ball and it was another Kurtis Guthrie header which looked to be looping into the back of the next but it was a good save from Jack Leighfield to deny him. The Clyde defence were really struggling to handle the onslaught as a great double save from firstly Guthrie then Montano denied the Lions the lead and it went out for a corner kick.
The deadlock was eventually broken when Montano danced inside off the left, gave the ball to Anderson who fired into the bottom corner on the 75th minute. 1-0 to the Lions!!
Livingston had a great chance to double the lead just 3 minutes later from the penalty spot after a Mikey Devlin cross struck the hand of the Clyde defender and Willie Collum pointed to the spot. The penalty curse continued though as Anderson stepped up to take but Leighfield got down to his left to save. Still 1-0.
Other results did go in favour of Livingston though and we qualified in top place from Group C with the draw happening on Sunday matching us with Ayr United at The Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday 19th August.
