Livingston FC Club Captain – Nicky Devlin!
It’s double good news today with the club thrilled to announce that Nicky Devlin has signed a contract extension which will see him remain with the club until at least 2023 – and has been officially appointed as club captain.
With Marvin Bartley focusing more on his Assistant Manager role, a new club captain was required on the field and manager David Martindale has chosen the 27-year-old defender to be that man.
Nicky joined the club in June 2019 from Walsall and was a virtual ever present until picking up an injury in the October which would rule him out until the final day of the 2019/20 season. He hit the ground running last season though, featuring in 46 of our 48 matches, scoring crucial goals away to Ross County and Aberdeen as the club sealed a consecutive top half finish.
Despite missing the start of this campaign after picking up an injury in pre-season, the defender returned as a substitute in the opening league match at Ibrox before leading the team out last week against Aberdeen and in yesterday’s win against St Mirren.
The new captain said: “Firstly, I’m just absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract at the club. It’s somewhere that I’ve loved playing since I arrived and hopefully we can continue to be as successful as we have in my first two seasons.
“Of course, it’s also a massive honour for me to be named captain of the club! I’ve got a hard job taking over from the previous captain Marv as he was a great leader but hopefully I can carry that on now.”
Well done, skipper!
