Livingston FC sign Ayo Obileye on pre-contract agreement
Livingston FC is delighted to announce the pre-contract signing of Ayo Obileye from Queen of the South.
Full name, Stephen Ayomide Oluwagbenga “Ayo” Obileye, the defender/midfielder will join the Lions when his contract with Queens expires at the end of this month and will sign an initial 2-year deal, with the club having an option of a third year.
The 26-year-old has played most of his career south of the border with a range of clubs including Sheffield Wednesday, Dagenham & Redbridge, Charlton, Eastleigh, Dover and Maidenhead before leaving Ebbsfleet to sign for Queen of the South in September 2020.
With 9 goals in 33 appearances for the Doonhamers this season, Ayo finished the Championship season as second top goal scorer, with only Liam Boyce from title winners Hearts scoring more league goals.
First Team Manager David Martindale said: “I am delighted that Ayo has chosen Livingston over a number of other Premiership clubs who were also chasing his signature. He has been a target for us for a large portion of the season.
“He’s aggressive in both boxes and can play as either a central defender or holding midfielder which I really like about him. He chips in with his fair share of goals – and not all coming from set plays. He has good feet, reads the game well and has a very good range of passing.
“He is a player I feel we can make better and has all the attributes to play for us now – very robust and physically up to the challenge having already played at a decent level in the UK throughout his career.
“I’m really, really happy to get this one over the line and would like to thank Ayo and his agent, Phil, for choosing Livingston as the next stage in Ayo’s career.”

Welcome to Livingston, Ayo!
