Livingston WFC 0-3 Hamilton Academical WFC
Livingston fell to a 3-0 defeat against league leaders Hamilton Accies at the Home of the Set Fare Arena on Sunday. Hamilton made it two wins from two games against the Lionesses as they remained top of the SWPL 1.
Both teams braved the Storm Ashley conditions, with the wind causing havoc to any ball that was airbound. Livingston were able to keep possession in their opponents half due to this but were unable to create any real opportunities of note.
The first half was competitive between both sides but it was Accies who made the breakthrough before half time. An overlapping run by Townsley saw the winger break into the box and calmly fire beyond Rachel Pirie.
Livingston seemed disjointed after half time, allowing Hamilton to take more control of the game. As Livingston struggled to get into their opponents final third, it was the away side who would put the pressure on.
In two instances in quick succession, Livingston cleared the ball off the line before giving a penalty away. MacDonald calmly converted the spot kick as Accies then kicked on.
Townsley threatened again by hitting the side netting before Tobin added a third straight from a corner kick.
The aforementioned Tobin rattled the bar with a free kick in the games last opportunity as the away side ran out 3-0 winners. A tough result against the league leaders, the Lionesses will recover and look toward their next game in two weeks at home to Gartcairn.
