Livingston WFC 0-8 Glasgow City WFC

The visitors started swiftly, forcing Livingston to play in their own half. The scoring wasn’t long in being opened either, with the visitors finding the net after only 4 minutes through Linda Motlhalo.
Glasgow City showed the Livingston defence no mercy in the first spell of the game, with attack after attack going the way of Alex Reid’s goal.
A great, potentially goal-saving challenge came from Katie Frew in the 15th minute. However the visitors doubled their lead in the 17th with an Emily Gray shot from outside the box finding the inside of the near post.
Shortly after, City flashed a ball across the box with a tap from one of their attackers, just whistling past the post.
Louise Mason had Livingston’s first effort on goal after 21 minutes; the shot from outside the box was enough to make the goalkeeper work, but not enough to get past her.
Katie Frew was covering a lot of ground, finding herself in midfield at times, breaking up play as well as commanding the Livingston backline.
Moran had a breaking run down the line thwarted as she was pulled down and awarded a free kick, howeer this was the end of the attack.
The visitors added a third just after the half-hour mark from Ruby Seaby.
With Gray adding her second, and City’s fourth added just shy of half-time, a ball into the back post was calmly slotted away.
Glasgow City had Livingston on the back foot in the first 45, with ruthless attacks not giving the defence any time to rest.
Shortly after the break, the visitors had the ball in the net for a 5th; however, the flag was up for offside, keeping the deficit at 4.
An absolute barrage of crosses followed from City, with Livi having to defend for their lives.
Right on the hour mark was when Motlhalo added a fifth to the tally for the away side, a deflection wrong-foots Reid and allows the ball to trickle into the corner.
Another was added 8 minutes later, an effort by Sofia Määttä from the edge of the box found the top corner.
Not even a minute later, a seventh was added as Gray completed her hat-trick.
3 minutes from full time, the visitors added another goal as Emily Whelan completed the evening’s tally.
The final 20 minutes had Glasgow City with the majority of possession, popping the ball around and making Livi chase. This was broken up with a few great saves from Reid to prevent more goals from being added to the tally.
With the conclusion of the match, the curtain is drawn on our Sky Sports Cup campaign for this season.
