Matej Poplatnik joins Raith Rovers on loan
Slovenian striker Matej Poplatnik has today sealed a season-long-loan move to Championship side Raith Rovers.
Matej will join up with former Livingston manager John McGlynn at Starks Park as the Kirkcaldy side look to go one better than last season’s play-off defeat in their hunt for a place in the top flight.
The frontman made 25 appearances for the Lions last season, 18 of those coming from the bench, and scored 3 times. The club has the option to recall Matej in the January window.
Raith Rovers are in friendly action against Queens Park tomorrow before starting their Premier Sports Cup campaign in our group against Cowdenbeath next weekend.
Manager David Martindale said: “When the opportunity became available for Matej to go out and play football week-in, week-out, it was a no brainer to try and make that happen for him.
“I’m more than comfortable with the striking options available at the club, but this also frees up some funds to perhaps look at trying to bring another offensive player into the building.
“I think Raith and Matej will be a very good fit for one another next season.
Good luck, Matej!
