Next Up – Celtic FC
After the disappointment of Wednesday’s game with Aberdeen being postponed at the very, very last minute, we dust ourselves down and get ready to go again – this time at the home of the current league Champions, Celtic FC.
After last Sunday’s win at home to Ross County, the Lions have now recorded 8 wins in a row, 6 of those in the league. A Livingston win this weekend would not only see us record 7 consecutive top flights victories for a first ever time, a remarkable achievement in itself, but it would also see us pick three points at Celtic Park for the first time too.
Our last visit to Celtic Park was an exciting one, with Jason Holt firing us ahead from the penalty spot, before three goals across both halves seen the hosts lead 3-1 with 38 minutes still to play but an absolute wonder goal from Julien Serrano made it 3-2 with the Lions just unable to nick a late equaliser to bag a share of the spoils.
That victory came in the middle of 8 straight wins for the hosts however, since then, the Glasgow giants have only recorded 7 wins in their next 21 fixtures – not the form we’ve become accustomed to from Celtic over the last 9 seasons.
Having lost the Glasgow derby to rivals Rangers just after the turn of the year, Celtic returned from a warm weather training camp in Dubai, looking to kick start their attempts at closing the gap on the league leaders however, a late Kevin Nisbet equaliser on Monday night meant they started that push with just a point against Hibernian at Celtic Park.
Of course, it’s been well documented that Celtic will be without a number of first-team regulars due to COVID-19 issues within the squad, with first-team coach Gavin Strachan taking the team with Neil Lennon and John Kennedy also having to miss out. That meant a place on the bench for a number of the clubs youngsters with Henderson, Okoflex and Dembele all appearing in the second-half.
For the Lions though, League 1 Player of the Month Jack Hamilton returned from East Fife and burst back on to the scene with our third goal in the 3-1 win against Ross County with young signing Jaze Kabia having meant to have been on the bench on Wednesday night against Aberdeen.
A goal for Alan Forrest against his brothers side would see him net his 12th of the season – the same figure striker Lyndon Dykes finished the 2020/21 season with.
Long term absentees Keaghan Jacobs and Alan Lithgow both remain unavailable for this one whilst Jack Fitzwater and Matej Poplatnik continue to train towards full fitness.
Out on loan – Brian Schwake, Ross Stewart, Robbie Crawford, Raffa De Vita, Salim Kouider-Aïssa & Lars Lokotsch.
How to Watch the Game?
Sadly, Celtic are not offering an option of pay-per-view for their home games so there is no method for watching a stream of the game this weekend unfortunately.
LFC Live subscribers can listen to the live “away team” audio commentary of the game.
