Next Up – Ross County
It’s Friday night under the Dingwall lights this week as we head north to take on Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium.
It was a 1-0 win for the Lions in the reverse fixture back in August with Jon Guthrie’s goal in the 64th minute proving enough to see all three points remain in Livingston.
Since then, it’s been 4 wins and 5 defeats for the Lions with more of a mixed bag for the Staggies with 2 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats.
You have to go back to mid-September to find the last league win for Friday’s hosts with a first-half Iain Vigurs goal proving enough for a 1-0 victory away to St Johnstone that afternoon.
With Saturday’s defeat to Motherwell making it 3 defeats in a row, Ross County also made it 3 without a win, going down 2-1 to Dundee United at Tannadice.
Striker Ross Stewart leads the scoring charts for the Highland side with 4 goals so far this season, albeit the two in the league came within the opening 3 games before a double at home to Arbroath in Betfred Cup last month seen County come back from a goal behind to register their first win in the competition, 2-1.
Former Lion Coll Donaldson could line-up for the hosts while it’s a return to Dingwall for Josh Mullin who departed County to re-join the Lions last month.
While the head-to-head record between the clubs sees the Lions dominate, our last visit to the Global Energy Stadium wasn’t an enjoyable one as a Billy McKay goal in either half helped Ross County to a 2-0 win on a cold, midweek evening in Dingwall.
However, our earlier visit north last season was certainly more fruitful as a rampant Livingston side strolled to an emphatic 4-1 win – a game in which Jack Stobbs did indeed thundertwat a rocket right in to the top pokie…
With the back half of October not having quite matched the form of earlier in the month, the Lions will be looking to get back to winning ways on Friday night.
Out on loan – Brian Schwake, Ross Stewart, Robbie Crawford, Raffa De Vita, Salim Kouider-Aïssa, Jack Hamilton & Lars Lokotsch
