Our players inspire young readers at Lanthorn Library

We were delighted to join children attending the West Lothian Community Foundation Football Camps at The Lanthorn Library in Dedridge yesterday, as part of the 4-4-2 Reading Challenge, delivered in partnership with the SPFL Trust.
Men’s first-team players Cristian Montaño and Robbie Muirhead, alongside women’s captain Jen Dodds, took time out to meet the children, chat about their reading and help make the visit a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The visit highlighted the positive role football can play in encouraging learning away from the pitch, using children’s existing interest in the game to help inspire a love of reading, build confidence and introduce them to the resources available in their local community.
The 4-4-2 Reading Challenge brings football and books together, encouraging children to develop their reading habits through a familiar and engaging theme.
You can find out more about the initiative in our original announcement: Livingston FC and West Lothian Community Foundation launch 4-4-2 Reading Challenge with SPFL Trust.
A big thank you to the West Lothian Community Foundation, The Lanthorn Library team, West Lothian Council and the SPFL Trust for helping make the visit possible, and to Cristian, Robbie and Jen for giving their time to support the children.
At Livingston FC, we’re proud to partner with the West Lothian Community Foundation to support initiatives that bring our club into the local community and help make a positive difference beyond the football pitch.
