Queen’s Park WFC 4-0 Livingston WFC
A strong showing from the league leaders Queens Park saw them come out 4-0 winners against Livingston at Nethercraigs.
Livingston travelled through to Glasgow with a reduced squad, with only four substitutes available against the runaway league leaders. Despite this, Livingston got off to a competitive start, knocking the ball around much better than in recent weeks. Lauren Evans was linking up nicely with Jen Dodds, Anna Dickov and Hannah Davie whilst Queens Park threatened with balls over the top toward their pacey forwards.
Queens would break the deadlock in the 20th minute, with a long ball finding Rachel McConnachie who made no mistake from inside the box. Livingston were punished immediately after following a slack short goal kick routine, with Ellie Kane managing to poke the ball home to double the hosts lead in the 22nd minute.
The two goals in two minutes looked to have knocked the confidence out of a decent display, with Queens coming into control of the game. The forward runs of Queens Park were working a treat, with a third goal coming ten minutes before halftime. Schenai Gamrot made a great save to tip an effort onto the bar but Monica Harty was on the scene to tap home into an empty net.
Livingston would create a few chances in the second half, with Shannon Mulligan going close from a corner as well as Emma McFadyen having a couple of opportunities. It would be the hosts who got the next goal, though, with Emma Craig firing home a fourth to wrap the game up.
The Lionesses remain in third place as results went their way in midweek action. Livingston are back in action for the third time this week, hosting Stirling University this Sunday at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
