Livingston FC can tonight confirm that midfielder Shaun Byrne has left the club to sign for Championship side Dundee FC for an undisclosed fee.

Despite the best efforts from the club, including an improved contract offer, the player and his agent were keen to explore other offers and after Dundee triggered a release clause in Shaun’s contract (including a future sell-on fee), a deal was agreed and the player has chosen to move on.

Whilst we’re disappointed to see Shaun leave, the best interests of the club must come first and we feel this deal represents that for all parties.

Shaun has been a terrific servant to the club since joining after his release from Dunfermline and played a key role in guiding us to back-to-back promotion before helping to solidify our place in the top flight last season.

With well over 100 appearances for the club, it’s safe to say Shaun’s time here has been a successful one and we wish him all the very best going forward.
