The Spartans 0-0 Livingston
There was a share of the spoils at Ainslie Park as two highly experimental sides failed to find the net.
The Lions turned out for their third freindly encounter of 2024/25 resplendent in their new home kit as unveiled yesterday. There were the predictable ranks of Trialists featuring on each team’s lineup, and if ever a game had pre-season written all over it, this was it.
A cagey opening saw very little in the way of goalmouth action, with Teti Yengi’s half chance on 31 minutes being the nearest thing to a scoring opportunity. Spartans had a decent effort right before the interval from one of their multiple trialists which George held comfortably.
A flurry of substitutions saw both lineups much changed as the managers continued wxperimenting, but once again chances remained elusive as the sides traded jabs.
The Lions did come agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock on 70 minutes through a Scott Pittman, but the Spartans’ trialist keeper produced a magical save to tip the effort onto the bar.
A few chances and half chances followed but there would be no goals.
Livi now head to Fife on Tuesday night where they’ll face Kelty Hearts in their penultimate preseason friendly.
